Saritha (Jayaprada) is a working woman in a middle class family. She works hard to support her widowed sister, unmarried sister, her mother, her drunkard brother Murthy and his family. Her father abandons family and becomes a saint. Her brother not only does not take responsibilities, but also creates additional problems for her. She sacrifices her first boy friend and makes him to marry her sister. She rejects proposal of her boss in order to support her family. She also helps her distressed friend, Phapahat Jayalaksmi to settle in life. Her brother realizes one day and starts taking responsibilities.
